History and culture

This diverse region, which on the one hand encompasses industry, crafts and economy, on the other offers beautiful natural beauties that will leave few indifferent.

Moslavina is a micro-region in central Croatia, with about 100,000 inhabitants. Numerous attractions are located in this region, from the natural beauties of the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park and the Moslavačka gora Regional Park, archeological sites, sacral heritage to numerous manifestations and cultural events. The largest traffic, economic and trade center is the town of Kutina, which houses the Moslavina Museum, which with its authentic decoration evokes the atmosphere and way of life of this area, and shows the most important historical periods and discoveries in this area. The more important centers of Moslavina are the towns of Čazma, Garešnica, Popovača and Ivanić-Grad.
Moslavina is also a famous vineyard area. It is no coincidence that the Romans, sitting in nearby Sisak, called the southern sides of Moslavačka gora “hills of good wines”. This area is home to the original varieties of wine (škrlet, moslavac, fragrant ranina), of which Škrlet stands out, as the first variety to receive a decision from the Croatian Center for Agriculture, Food and Village on the recognition of three Škrlet clones, making Škrlet the first branded Croatian sort.
The quality of the land, the pleasant climate, and the hard work of Moslavina winemakers spread the flavors and aromas of wine along the Moslavina wine roads located between the towns of Kutina and Popovača. In addition to enjoying wines, the proud owners of numerous cellars on the Moslavačka wine road also offer local gastronomic specialties, as well as the service of accommodation in a rural household, cellars or family farms.
The beauty and importance of this area has been recognized since ancient times, as evidenced by the numerous remains of forts, old towns, Pauline monasteries, which combined with the attractive and diverse environment of the region and many roads with less traffic and more than 300 km of themed bike trails and routes. (wine, oil, medieval) allow cycling enthusiasts to enjoy the Moslavina trails of surprise.
Diverse cultural offer, traditional specialties, top wines, proximity to the most important roads and the capital Zagreb, all this guarantees a good time in Moslavina, a destination that visitors from the country and the world are just discovering and presenting to the guest, a complete surprise!
