Aside from the religious and monument sites, the spirituality, culture, and tradition of an area or a region can be interpreted through its autochthonous cuisine, as part of its cultural identity. The current tourism trends include some new tourists who want to try the local cuisine, local ingredients, and the method for the preparation of the food, and they also want the wines that would pair with the food to achieve a full experience.

That is why the Sisak-Moslavina Tourism Board, in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy – County Chamber Sisak, made this brochure where you can find, according to the recommendation of the County Cooking Association, the traditional dishes with their recipes and methods for preparation, as well as wines and wine makers in the region. Our county has something that is difficult to find in the world, and that is the “Gavrilović” meat industry, owned by the same family for eight generations, it represents a special family tradition. Their adherence to tradition and commitment to quality has enabled the Gavrilović specialties to take the leading position in the market of meat delicacies for almost two centuries.

This brochure is not meant to be a classic cookbook, instead it is supposed to be a guide through the dishes and photographs of our picturesque county, with the purpose of raising the interest of potential tourists to visit this preserved area and taste the traditional dishes and the autochthonous varieties of wine…
